Higgins Bowl

1. Entry
i. Entry is through the club’s online booking sheet or the Pro Shop
ii. The entry fee is $10 per side.
2. Eligibility
i. All members with 7-day competition playing rights are eligible to enter.
3. Format
i. The event is handicap Mixed Foursomes Stroke.
ii. The event is played on the 3rd Saturday of April, or as promulgated in the FGC syllabus/calendar of events
4. Rules
i. The event will be conducted according to the Rules of Golf including the Flinders Golf Club (FGC) General Terms of Competition and Local Rules. Where the word “Committee” is used in this or any of the Rules documents it will mean the Golf Committee of the FGC whose decisions will be final and binding on all competitors.
ii. Players (or their caddies) must not ride on any form of transportation in this event unless they are over 70 years of age or are able to produce a medical certificate acceptable to the Committee. Any approved transportation is for that purpose only, and and if weather protection shields are fitted, they must not be used. Penalty statement in FGC General Conditions of Competition applies.
iii. The event will be played from the blue plates for Men and the red plates for Women unless otherwise indicated by the placement of movable corresponding tee markers on the day of play.
iv. Order of play shall be men on odd tees and women on even tees. In the event of a tie, a count back will be conducted in accordance with the provisions set out in the FGC General Terms of Competition.
v. Nearest the pins will be awarded on the 9th and 17th holes for Men, and 12th and 14th holes for Women.
vi. If there is a need to suspend play, the provisions set out in the FGC General Terms of Competition and the Suspension, Postponement and Cancellation of Events policy will apply.
5. General Information
I. The event is a major trophy event.
II. The winner’s names will be inscribed on the Higgins Bowl Trophy.
III. The winners will each receive an invitation to the annual Presentation Night
IV. The winners of the minor (net) event will each receive a voucher redeemable at the pro shop to the value of $25.00.
V. The trophy was a gift of Martin Horne, in memory of the pioneering Higgins family of the district.
