Course Masterplan & Course Tour
In 2022 the club commenced a program to renovate its “push up” greens. A push up green doesn’t have any drainage rather they rely upon gravity to disperse water. The club has 9 of these greens and started a program to renovate a green per year by installing modern drainage solutions to improve grass growth and consistency of pace.
Given the extent of this program it was considered prudent to review the course in general and an expression of interest was issued to a number of golf course architects. The club asked the respondents to consider the following objectives:-
- Renovation not Reconstruction
- Ensure the course meets modern standards of drainage, durability and sustainability
- Rectify any inconsistencies in greens and bunkers
- Maximise the views to Bass Strait and Western Port Bay
Michael Henderson (Holes in the Ground) was the successful tenderer and in December 2022 submitted a master plan which was duly accepted by the General Committee. The club has to date presented the plan to members at two forums and the response has been overwhelmingly supportive.
I encourage all members and visitors to review the master plan. In order to minimise disruption to play it is intended to undertake major works to one hole per year and where appropriate implement recommended changes in the program of maintenance works undertaken by ground staff.
Regular updates will be provided as the works progress. If you have any observations or feedback please respond to admin@flindersgolfclub.com.au
